mxMail/mxFtp ============ mxMail and mxFtp are applications designed for operating on UNIX platforms. They use X/Motif and are written in C++. They have been designed for Linux but *should* run with little or no modifications on other UNIX OS's (the only part that will require significant work is the akSound class in the class library that comes with the applications - it is Linux-specific). Description of directories -------------------------- app-defaults - contains the resource files for 'mxmail' and 'mxftp'. AppKit - contains the code for the AppKit class library. src - contains the code for the 'mxmail' and 'mxftp' applications. lib - where the libAppKit.a is stored when it is built. bin - where the 'mxmail' and 'mxftp' binaries are stored when built. doc - (limited) documentation for 'mxmail' and 'mxftp'. sounds - audio sounds used by 'mxmail' and 'mxftp'. Building the applications ------------------------- To build mxMail/mxFtp you WILL require the following :- a). C++ compiler (e.g g++) and STL implementation (e.g libstdc++) b). X window system (X11R6 ideally, but X11R5 should be OK) c). Motif (version 2.0 or greater). To build mxMail and mxFtp, do the following :- a). build the AppKit class library. On Linux this is achieved by cd'ing to the AppKit directory and typing 'make'. This creates libAppKit.a in the lib directory. b). build the applications. On Linux this is achieved by cd'ing to the src directory and typing 'make'. This creates 'mxmail' and 'mxftp' in the bin directory. Installing the applications --------------------------- Refer to the file INSTALL. Running the applications ------------------------ To run 'mxMail' you also require 'sendmail' on your system. To run 'mxFtp' you also require 'ftp' on your system. Customising the audio sounds used by mxmail/mxftp ------------------------------------------------- Simply go into the sounds directory and replace the provided sounds with your own WAV or VOC files (the provided sounds are all WAV format).
