fml 3.0 -- handling error mail ---
*** overview
In small mailing list, you may be able to handle error mails.
However you expect fml to handle error mails automatically.
*** handle error mails
Especially in the end of the year, users apart from university or
company but forget to change the address registered in ML. In that
case, many "user unknown" mail returns to $MAINTAINER.
libexec/mead.pl in fml package analyses these error mails as input and
removes such invalid users from the member list.
In default mead.pl shows "user unknown" addresses to remove from the
member list. You can configure mead.pl removes such addresses
automatically.
*** how to configure
% makefml newml elena
[ /var/spool/ml/elena/include-mead ] has
# MEAD: Mail Error Analyze Daemon ("-m auto" to remove addrs automatically)
# a lot of available options. see op.{jp,en} e.g. mead.pl -f perl-script
"|/usr/local/fml/libexec/mead.pl -m report -S /var/spool/ml -D /var/spool/ml/elena -E /usr/local/fml"
[ /var/spool/ml/elena/aliases has the (commented) entry to call ]
#elena-admin: fukachan, :include:/var/spool/ml/elena/include-mead
To enable "mead" to work, uncommnet it in /etc/aliases to enable mead
elena-admin: fukachan, :include:/var/spool/ml/elena/include-mead
and run "newaliases".
*** advanced configuration
* important command line option
-m mode
-k action
These two options are orthogonal. "mode" is either of "auto" or
"report" and "action" is "off" (stop delivery but not remove it) or
"bye" (remove the user).
* Example: remove invalid user automatically
change "-m report" to "-m auto" in /var/spool/ml/elena/include-mead.
/etc/aliases is the same as described above.
"|/usr/local/fml/libexec/mead.pl -m auto -S /var/spool/ml -D /var/spool/ml/elena -E /usr/local/fml"
* Example: stop delivery for invalid user automatically
"|/usr/local/fml/libexec/mead.pl -k off -m auto -S /var/spool/ml -D /var/spool/ml/elena -E /usr/local/fml"
